This Week: Meet Marshall and Madeline

Who are you and where are you from?

Marshall B Garrett, born in Denver, Colorado, but raised in Ohio.

What do you do at Baltimore Center Stage?

I’m the Company Manager, which basically means that I take care of each show’s company of artists in all that they need outside of rehearsal and performance. So I manage their housing, arrange for their travel, provide food for first rehearsals, snacks for tech, and the champagne toast for closing. If an artist needs anything while they are here, I’m their first call.

How long have you been working here?

I’ve worked at Baltimore Center Stage since September 2017, first as a teaching artist in our Education department, and now as company manager since March.

What’s the most interesting thing about your job?

By far the most interesting thing about my job is the people. I meet everyone who comes through BCS, and I get to know them quickly. I will say that my favorite part of my job is getting to watch artistic geniuses like Kwame and Hana work.

Do you have a favorite space in the BCS building?

My favorite space in the building is the Head/Bernard Black Box.  The magic that happens on our stages is ultimately why we’re all here, and I love that we have a space that can be either a proscenium or a black box.

What is your favorite play?

My favorite show since being here is Skeleton Crew. The play spoke to me, and I’ll confess my job is much simpler when it’s a smaller company!

Who are you and where are you from?

Madeline Dummerth from Manassas, Virginia

What do you do at Baltimore Center Stage?

I am the Tessitura Database Coordinator. That means that I keep our ticketing and fundraising system up and running in order to provide the best experience for our patrons, donors, and staff members.

How long have you been working here?

1 year, 3 months

What’s the most interesting thing about your job?

The most interesting part of my job is getting to help my colleagues record and find the data that they wish to report out. A lot of times this part is like solving a big puzzle, which is why I love it!

Do you have a favorite space in the BCS building?

4th Floor Deering Lounge. I love the way the light shines in the windows in the morning.

What is your favorite play?

Twisted Melodies
