BALTIMORE CENTER STAGE PRESENTS: LAB 410
As part of our dedication to making art and cultivating artists in our beautiful city of Baltimore we are launching our inaugural playwriting residency: Lab410. Every production we do starts with an idea, perhaps expressed in words, mostly in the form of scripts, and Lab410 gives us the chance to cultivate some of the world’s best works of theater right here at Baltimore Center Stage. We believe the diversity, terrain, and depth of Baltimore’s culture deserves the best platforms, and this season-long playwriting residency is just one of the ways we plan to put Baltimore on the world stage.

Calling all artists with an interest in playwriting! Baltimore Center Stage presents: Lab410, a playwriting workshop for new, emerging, and established playwrights in Baltimore! Three playwrights will be chosen to spend our 2024/2025 season writing and developing an original piece of theater.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- A bio (Tell us about yourself, where you’re from, and where you’ve been). 100 word Max
- A Statement (Tell us about the art you make and why) 500 word max
- A proposed work (A draft or outline of the play you’d like to develop in the lab)
- A Writing Sample (This can be anything from a 1-page poem to a 2-Act play)
- Writers MUST live in Baltimore and surrounding counties (Howard, Baltimore and Anne Arundel)
COMMITMENT
- 1 bi-weekly (virtual) meeting about your work
- 1 monthly (in-person) meeting with the lab
- 1 week of rehearsals
- 1 workshop performance
PERKS
- $1000 in support of their work while in the residency
- Dramaturgy and thought partnership throughout the residency
- Access to office/rehearsal space at BCS
- Workshops and masterclasses with guest artists
- Free tickets to BCS shows
